Picasso was sketching the image of a dove by the side of the Seine, when a Parisian woman passed by and wanted to buy the drawing.

“200 Francs,” Picasso offered.

“What,” the woman exclaimed, “200 Francs? But I saw you, it only took you a couple of minutes to make that sketch!”

“Mademoiselle,” Picasso replied, “it took me a whole life-time to make that sketch.”
